Diagram Description
The Accessible.org Map illustrates the hierarchy and relationships of digital accessibility and compliance concepts. The diagram flows from top to bottom, starting with ‘Digital Assets’ at the top. Digital Assets splits into three main categories: Web + Mobile Apps, Websites, and Software. Under these, the diagram branches into three main sections:
Organization Policy Compliance (left branch) – Contains Accessibility Policy, which connects to three items: Roles/Responsibilities, Procurement (which includes VPAT/ACR), and Training. An Accessibility Statement connects to this section.
Legal Compliance (center branch) – Stems from Websites with a note about ‘WCAG + Requirements’. This leads to WCAG Conformance (noting versions 2.0 AA, 2.1 AA, 2.2 AA) which splits into three paths:
Audit: Links to Methodologies (Screen Reader Testing, Keyboard Testing, Visual Inspection, Code Inspection, and Automated Scan)
Remediation: Links to Code elements (ARIA, JavaScript, HTML, CSS)
User Testing: Links to Content types (Images, Text, Video, Audio, Documents) and Practical Filter (Prof. with Disability, Assistive Technology)
Laws, Regulations + Lawsuits (right branch) – Contains Section 508, ADA, and EAA. Under Section 508 and ADA are Title I, Title II, and Title III, which connect to Conformance Statements/Certifications.
The diagram includes the Accessible.org logo, a copyright notice ‘© Kris Rivenburgh and Accessible.org 2024’, and the Certified Accessible seal.
