Accessible.org VPAT services cost:
- $550 for the WCAG Edition
- $650 for the Revised Section 508 Edition
- $750 for the EN 301 549 Edition
- $950 for the INT Edition
And, of course, we need to audit your digital asset before we can fill in the Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT). And the price for audit simply depends on your digital asset.
But where do these prices come from?
Let’s thoroughly break down how we arrive at the cost of a VPAT / ACR in 2025.
Note: The terms VPAT and ACR (Accessibility Conformance Report) are used interchangeably, but what you as a client are technically looking for is an ACR, which is the completed VPAT; the VPAT is just the template we fill in.
Filling in the VPAT
There are two parts to filling in a VPAT:
- table
- details
They’re both important, but let’s talk about the table first because this is the material section and takes 99% of the time.
Accessibility Table
Our VPAT cost, ranging from $550 – $950 represents our charge for filling in the accessibility table section (think of this as the feature movie in the VPAT movie theater) of the template and the details. What we do is use our audit results to fill in the table.
But, this isn’t a copy and paste. Here’s the first part of the table, Table 1: Success Criteria, Level A, that we’ll fill in (keep in mind, the table is much longer):
In the “Conformance Level” column, we’ll enter either:
- Supports
- Partially Supports
- Does Not Support
- Not Applicable
- Not Evaluated (only for AAA success criteria)
For the “Remarks and Explanations” column, we’ll add detailed remarks to justify the answers in the conformance level column. At a minimum, for every criteria that is marked as Partially Supports, Does Not Support, or Does Not Apply, we must add information to the Remarks and Explanations column to to justify those entries.
Again, this is not information that we copy and paste from our audit report. Rather, we use the audit to inform our answers.
But legitimate VPAT services take time and not all accessibility companies put in the necessary work.
Details
We’ve saved the easiest for last, but just because the details section of the VPAT is easy, it doesn’t mean it isn’t important. Here we have to tie the Accessibility Table to what all of the important details surrounding the ACR are:
- Company Name
- Name of Product/Version
- Report Date
- Product Description
- Contact Information
- Notes
- Evaluation Methods Used
- Applicable Standards/Guidelines
We’ve used the analogy of the Accessibility Table being like a feature movie, think of the details section as being like all of the important movie details:
- Movie theater
- Address
- Start time
- Seats
- Ticket prices
Obviously still very important – and you can’t see the movie without these, but this is the administrative side of the big show, not the show itself (what we all came to see).
Audit
We have an entire blog post dedicated to breaking down the cost of an audit (our typical audit cost range is $2,500 to $7,500) so we won’t go into the factors here, but as you can tell, the audit service is separate.
Both of the services take time and are distinct from one another. With the audit, we’re identifying all of the accessibility issues on your digital asset, in detail, and providing you an actionable report that tells you:
- what needs to be fixed
- where the issue is located, and
- our recommendation on how to fix it
I’ve distilled our report down to three columns for the sake of simplicity, but there’s much more. You can download our sample audit report if you’d like to get a feel for our high quality work.
Simply, we need the audit to know what to fill in for the accessibility table.
VPAT Editions
And now we’ve come full circle: why do we charge different prices for different VPATs?
Our pricing tiers represent the progressive additional time necessary to account for the additional criteria under different standards.
This leads to why there are different VPAT editions: there are different technical standards that some purchasers need to check your product or service’s conformance for. While the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are the big man on campus, they aren’t the only man on campus.
Summary
There you have it, that’s how you calculate the cost of VPAT services (again, it’s really an ACR you’re after – it’s a technicality, but, hey, we have to know our stuff).
