EAA Compliance Reports on Technical Accessibility

As we’ve advised clients during EAA consultation calls, documentation is essential when it comes to compliance with the European Accessibility Act (EAA). At Accessible.org, we already create and issue a number of helpful documents for clients (that support EAA compliance) including:

  • Accessibility Statements
  • Accessibility Conformance Reports (also known as ACRs or VPATs)
  • Accessible.org Certification
  • Conformance Statements

While the latter three bullet points are compelling in their own right, we think there is added value in having an EAA specific report. This way monitoring authorities can quickly assess technical compliance.

This is why we are now issuing an EAA Compliance Report which assesses the compliance of a digital product or service against the applicable technical accessibility requirements found in Annex I. Our report evaluates compliance against these key Annex I requirements:

Section I – Information and User Interface Requirements

  • Information must be available through multiple senses (visual, auditory, tactile)
  • Content must be understandable and perceivable by all users
  • User interfaces must work with assistive technologies
  • Visual elements must support magnification and contrast adjustments
  • Audio features must be compatible with hearing aids and other devices

Section III – Service Accessibility Requirements

  • Services must use accessible products in their delivery
  • Information about the service must be provided in accessible formats
  • Service design must maximize use by people with disabilities
  • Staff must be trained to provide accessible customer support

Section IV – Specific Service Requirements (where applicable)

  • Real-time text communication capabilities
  • Sign language support through video
  • Emergency service accessibility features

Section VII – Functional Performance Criteria

  • Ensuring content is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust
  • Meeting accessibility needs when specific technical requirements don’t fully address a function

How We Address Each Requirement

For every applicable requirement, our EAA Compliance Report provides either one of three statuses:

  • Compliant
  • Non-compliant
  • Partially compliant

The report will also detail:

  • Date
  • Digital Asset Name
  • Digital Asset Description
  • Evaluation Methodologies
  • Issuer: Accessible.org

How to View This Document

Our EAA Compliance Report provides an independent professional assessment of your digital asset’s compliance status as of the evaluation date. The report reflects our expert analysis of how your product or service meets EAA technical requirements.

This document serves as specialized compliance documentation to support your EAA obligations. While only designated regulatory authorities can bestow official compliance certification (not that we’ve seen they offer certification), our reports offer expert evaluation from technical accessibility specialists with extensive experience evaluating digital assets against accessibility standards.

Our Report Process

For you to receive a report, we must audit your digital asset. Our audits are a formal, meticulous evaluation of your digital asset against a technical standard.

Once we finish the audit, we will begin mapping the results to the applicable EAA technical accessibility requirements.

If you would like to fix the issues identified in the audit, we will pause the issuance of the compliance report. This will give your team the ability to remediate the issues and us time to validate any fixes (we use technical support hours to validate).

Once this work is completed, you will receive the audit report along with the EAA compliance report.

To ask about a compliance report for your digital asset, message us below or contact us. We’d love to help.
