How Much Do We Charge for a WCAG 2.2 AA Audit?

About 80% of our clients elect to use the WCAG 2.1 AA standard for their audit, but some clients opt for WCAG 2.2 AA. Here’s how to calculate the Accessible.org difference in price:

WCAG 2.2 AA quotes are 10% more vs. 2.1 AA.

For example, we just had a client who is ordering our VPAT service ask us how much more it would be for 2.2. Their desktop-only audit quote was $1,150 and the revised quote was $1,265, a $115 difference.

So how do you know how much your audit will cost?

We charge between $100 – $250 per page or screen, mostly based on complexity. Here are the three general tiers we place pages / or screens in:

  • Light: $100
  • Medium: $175
  • Heavy: $250

For very simple pages, we charge $0 – $100.

For example, for a page that is mostly text we might charge $50.

If there are several screens that are redundant (but desirable to have in scope, for say VPAT/ACR purposes) we might include them at no cost.

Most audit quotes range from $1,500 to $5,500 and we audit all types of digital assets including:

  • Websites
  • Web apps
  • Mobile apps
  • Desktop applications
  • Software

Our default recommendation is WCAG 2.1 AA for a few reasons:

  • It’s internationally recognized as a best practice for compliance
  • It’s easier (relative to 2.2) to make your digital asset conformant
  • There’s usually enough for most teams to work on just with 2.1

However, choosing 2.2 AA for your standard has multiple benefits:

  • Future-proofing
  • Even better accessibility
  • Exceed compliance requirements

If you’d like to talk to us about which standard is right for you, send us a message in the contact form below or contact us. We’d love to help.
