Hot off the presses: we just published a very nifty European Accessibility Act (EAA) resource to make the Articles in the Directive much easier to understand. When you download the PDF, you get the administrative “Obligations” from the EAA in outline form and… wait for it… everything is in plain English.
Download EAA in Plain English (PDF).
We’re next working on a Part 2 for the Annexes section which features the technical requirements. But, this one covers a lot of ground:
- Article 2: Scope
- Article 3: Definitions
- Article 7: Obligations of Manufacturers
- Article 9: Obligations of Importers
- Article 10: Obligations of Distributors
- Article 11: When Manufacturer Obligations Apply to Importers and Distributors
- Article 13: Obligations of Service Providers
- Article 14: Fundamental Alteration and Disproportionate Burden
- Article 18: Rules and Conditions for Affixing the CE Marking
Importantly, we didn’t include all of the articles or even all of the definitions. Instead, we focused on what was the most likely to be to most helpful to the covered economic operators.
Also, we included a quick checklist to start most of the Articles so that anyone can get the takeaway of what is required.
In the weeks leading up to the June 28, 2025 EAA deadline, we’re going to be working on creating the most helpful resources for understanding how to comply with this Directive.
