Feature Area | Excel/Google Sheets | Accessibility Tracker |
---|---|---|
Status Updates | Time-consuming manual updates – Every status change, assignment, and progress update requires manual entry | Streamlined status management with 7 predefined labels: Not Started, Validated, In Progress, Needs Work, Completed, On Hold, Discarded |
Team Collaboration | Poor collaboration features – No built-in commenting, notifications, or clear ownership tracking | Built-in team assignment system with notifications – Issues can be reassigned between team members as work flows from design to development |
Workflow Automation | No workflow automation – Can’t automate assignments, reminders, or integrate with development tools | Automated workflow features with assignment notifications, reminders, and development tool integrations |
Scalability | Difficult to scale – Performance and usability degrade quickly with hundreds of issues | Built to handle large-scale accessibility remediation projects efficiently without performance degradation |
Data Integrity | High risk of human error – Easy to accidentally delete data, break formulas, or miss updates | Secure data management with built-in safeguards against accidental data loss and missed updates |
Issue Assignment | Manual assignment tracking with no automated handoffs between team roles | Dynamic assignment system – Example: Designer completes design work and automatically reassigns to developer for coding implementation |
Progress Tracking | Limited visibility into project progress and bottlenecks | Real-time progress tracking with clear visibility into workflow stages and team responsibilities |
You’ve received your accessibility audit report and you’re ready to fix the issues. But how do you track your fixes?
Sure you can track each issue manually in Excel or Google Sheets, but that comes with efficiency tradeoffs:
- Time-consuming manual updates – Every status change, assignment, and progress update requires manual entry
- Poor collaboration features – No built-in commenting, notifications, or clear ownership tracking
- No workflow automation – Can’t automate assignments, reminders, or integrate with development tools
- Difficult to scale – Performance and usability degrade quickly with hundreds of issues
- High risk of human error – Easy to accidentally delete data, break formulas, or miss updates
We created Accessibility Tracker to make the remediation process much more efficient and effective and one of the most practical features is the ability to update each issue’s status with a variety of labels:
- Not Started – The issue has been identified but no work has begun to fix it
- In Progress – Someone is actively working on fixing this accessibility issue
- Completed – The issue has been fixed and the solution has been implemented
- On Hold – Work on this issue has been paused, likely due to dependencies or other priorities
- Discarded – The issue has been reviewed and determined to not need fixing (possibly a false positive or not applicable)
- Validated – The issue has been confirmed as a legitimate accessibility problem that needs to be addressed
- Needs work – An attempted fix was made but it requires additional changes or didn’t fully resolve the issue
What’s more, you can assign issues to different team members and those team members can also assign the same issues to other team members so that work flows to the appropriate roles.
For example, let’s say a designer has completed the design work on a given issue, they can then assign the issue to a developer for the coding.
This is just one of the many features of the Accessibility Tracker platform. Here are a few others:
- Your team can use AI to help them with the fixes (and AI already has your audit data)
- You can use one of two built-in prioritization formulas (user impact and legal risk) to prioritize fixes
- You can track progress with analytics and progress reports
And one other enormous differentiator: everything is based on your accessibility audit report. Unlike platforms that are scan-based, this means your analytics and progress score is actually accurate.
You can start using all features with a free plan at AccessibilityTracker.com.
