Last week, I had 3 speaking sessions at the Texas Association of Counties (TAC) 2025 Technology Conference. There were three hour long sessions:
- Accessibility Myths (what not to do)
- Accessibility Building Blocks (how to organize your project)
- Accessibility Fundamentals (understanding the technical side of accessibility)
Each session had 100-200 representatives from counties all across Texas ready to learn more about the new ADA Title II Web Rule. In each session, I presented for 30-45 minutes and then took questions from the county representatives in attendance.
And after the sessions, I answered many more questions on compliance — the most common question by far was how to archive digital content to qualify for an exemption under the ADA Title II Web Rule. It was also great to see many counties realize that they should be proactive and start working on compliance now rather than wait.
Beyond answering questions, many counties asked me about Accessible.org providing services so that they could ensure compliance. They asked about:
- project oversight for numerous websites
- accessibility audits
- consultation on technically creating archived content
I quite enjoyed speaking and presenting at the Sheraton Austin Georgetown Hotel & Conference Center. The County Information Resources Agency (CIRA) who put the conference together for (TAC) also worked with me to create recordings of all three of my presentations and these will be provided as a resource for TAC members.
If you would like to book me as an expert speaker for your conference, I’d love to present on accessibility and compliance. Just send a message and I’ll reply very soon.
Also, if your organization needs help with ADA Title II web compliance, we’re happy to help. We offer numerous resources including WCAG training, professional services, and multiple products including our Accessibility Tracker app.
Thanks so much to TAC CIRA for the invite and excellent all-around conference.
